Stream Tools Privacy Policy
How the Believe Nation stream tools handle your data. Effective August 14, 2026.
What this covers
This policy applies to the Believe Nation stream tools: the on-stream viewer currency and inventory system, the viewer web portal at believenation.tv/viewer, the Believe Nation Twitch panel extension, and the live-chat tools we run on our Twitch and YouTubestreams (together, the “Tools”). It explains what the Tools collect, why, how long it is kept, and your choices. The Tools let viewers of our Twitch and YouTube channels earn a channel-only virtual currency, hold virtual items, and trade them with other viewers across both platforms.
The virtual currency and items have no real-world monetary value, cannot be purchased with real money through the Tools, and cannot be cashed out.
Information we collect
- Twitch or YouTube account details — the identity your streaming platform gives us for the channel you watch on: on Twitch, your numeric user ID, username (login), display name, and profile image; on YouTube, your channel ID and display name as they appear in our stream's live chat. We obtain Twitch details when you sign in with Twitch on the portal, or — inside the Twitch panel extension —only if you choose to share your identity(see below). We obtain YouTube details from our stream's live chat while you participate in it.
- Channel currency activity— your points balance, virtual items you hold (for example “cards” and “chips”), a ledger of transactions (earns, spends, purchases, mini-game bets and payouts), and any player-to-player trades you take part in, including the points and items offered and the display name of the other trader.
- Technical data — standard request information such as IP address, timestamps, and browser user-agent, processed transiently by our hosting provider for security and reliability.
- Giveaway fulfillment details — if you win a giveaway and choose to claim it, we collect the email address and Star Citizen handle you submit, with your consent, solely to deliver the prize.
What we do NOT collect
- Payment card, bank, or other financial information.
- Email address, except when a giveaway winner voluntarily submits one to claim a prize.
- Phone number or postal address.
- The content of your chat messages.
- Precise location (we only see the approximate region implied by an IP address).
How we use your information
- Operate the currency, inventory, and trading features and show you your balance and items.
- Create and settle trades between viewers.
- Prevent fraud, abuse, and cheating, and keep the Tools working correctly.
- Understand which features are used so we can improve them.
- Contact and fulfill a giveaway prize for the selected winner.
Cookies
- Session cookie (
bn-viewer) — a first-party, httpOnly cookie that holds a signed token of your streaming-platform identity so you stay signed in to the portal. It expires after about 7 days. - Sign-in cookie — a short-lived cookie used only during the platform sign-in redirect.
- The Twitch panel extension does not set a first-party cookie; it authenticates using the signed token Twitch provides to the extension.
- We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Twitch extension
Inside the Twitch panel extension, requests are authenticated with the signed JSON Web Token that Twitch issues to the extension. Sharing your Twitch identity is optional: if you do not share it, we only receive an anonymous, per-channel identifier from Twitch and cannot look up or show your currency account. If you choose to share your identity, Twitch provides your Twitch user ID, which we use to link the panel to your currency account. We only receive the data the Twitch Extensions framework passes to us. You can revoke this at any time in Twitch.
YouTube viewers
If you watch on YouTube, our streaming tools identify you by your YouTube channel (its channel ID and the display name shown in the live chat) so we can award and track your currency the same way as on Twitch. We do not use a YouTube extension, and we do not access your Google account beyond the public channel identity that appears in the live chat of our streams. To stop, simply do not participate in our live chat.
How long we keep it
- Your currency account (balance and inventory) is kept while your account is active.
- Giveaway claim details are kept for no more than eight hours after submission and are deleted sooner when the prize is marked fulfilled. Expired details cannot be viewed by the stream operator.
Your choices and rights
- Request access to the information associated with your currency account by contacting us on Discord.
- Revoke the Twitch panel extension's identity sharing, or the portal's Twitch authorization, at any time from your Twitch account's Connections settings. On YouTube, stop participating in our live chat.
- Stop using the Tools at any time; this does not affect your Twitch or YouTube account.
Children
The Tools are not directed to children. You must meet the minimum age of the platform you use — Twitch or YouTube — to use it and the Tools. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Security
Identity tokens are cryptographically signed, secrets are kept server-side, and traffic is served over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page.
